Orthodox Book Club: Update

Good morning, book lovers!

I hope everyone had a terrific summer and are easing into back-to-school mode with a smile! I also hope that you’re anxious to start reading again.  I know I am!

I realized that somehow with all the housekeeping I’ve been doing here on my blog, that the second part of The Purple Mantle discussion got lost.  So, I’ll be reposting that again soon.  In the meantime, let’s get ready to start discussing Precious Vessels of the Holy Spirit.

We’ll meet here on Monday, September 10, to discuss the first four elders–up to page 123.  Comments can be left any time after the post is live, so the discussions are ongoing and fit into everyone’s schedules.  Even if you don’t have the entire assignment read, feel free to discuss what you’ve read up until that point.

I do my best to send out email blasts with the latest book club news, but please keep an eye on the blog for updates, just in case I’m not able to get one out.  The easiest way to do this is to sign up on the right sidebar to get these posts delivered right to your front door (aka inbox).  I’m still ironing out the glitches with the server switch, so you might get a feedburner error message.  If you do, don’t worry, it still subscribes you.  I think, lol.

For those of you who want to pre-order your books again, the next three books we’ll be reading are:

The selections for November and December are relatively short.  I slowed down a bit with the assignments because many of you said you were having difficulty finishing in time.  So, with the holidays and preparations that take place during those two months, I thought shorter books might work out better.

Again, as always, OrthodoxChristianChildren.com are offering a 20% discount on book club orders.  Be sure to follow the instructions posted here when ordering.

Leave any thoughts, comments or future book recommendations below!  See you September 10!

**Editor’s Note:  I will not be able to have the discussion up on September 10, as stated above.  Keep an eye out for an email from me announcing the new date!  And please subscribe to email delivery, it will ensure you receive all book club news!

  1. I completely missed the first part of the discussion (at least I think I did, did I comment?) Looking forward to the second part.

  2. what time does the book club start monday & any other tips for a newbie at these online things? 🙂 many many thanks, Maria

    1. Ha! Mary Kaye, that’s because I haven’t sent any in awhile. I’ll be sending the next one out next week, God-willing. We had a nasty bout of the stomach flu in our house and I’ve fallen a bit behind…again. 🙂 If you don’t receive something by the end of next week, let me know! Glad to have you join us!

  3. I want to participate with the book club, but I can’t get it to take my email for a subscription. Can you add me, please? Thanks!

    1. Jennifer, for some reason it gives an error message saying that email subscriptions are not enabled, but they are and it still signs you up. If you don’t get a notification with my next post, let me know. 🙂 Glad to have you joining us!

  4. I didnt know if you sent an email out about the book club yet.

    1. Rebecca, you didn’t miss it! I’m still trying to figure out when I’ll schedule the next discussion. Hope to email the group soon! 🙂
