Lenten Giveaway!

orthodox mom lenten giveaway

We’ve made it through the first week of Lent!  To celebrate and to encourage you to keep struggling toward our glorious Pascha, I wanted to give away some of my favorite Lenten resources!

First, is the Psalter.  This is a pocket-sized Psalter, the same one that I use during our Psalter Groups.  I love it because it fits so easily into my bag and can be easily taken out and read anywhere.

Psalter Spring Feature

Second is the latest edition of Nisteia magazine by The Greek Vegan which includes 56 full color pages of lenten recipes!

This magazine is so well made, it feels like it should be on newstands.  The photographs are so professional and the recipes are phenomenal.  I had a reader comment on Facebook that at first glance she thought is was a copy of Bon Apetit!  And I must say, I totally agree.  The best part of this magazine is that it offers recipes that you don’t see everywhere, helping keep my menu at home versatile and practical, not to mention delicious!

Potato Soup from The Greek Vegan

The third item you will receive is a PDF of my Orthodox Lenten Study, which is available here.  I created this guide to help us keep a daily focus on Christ and the approaching feasts.  It is made up of 7 weekly themes, like prayer, fasting, forgiveness, etc. and includes daily scripture verses, with journaling space to reflect on the readings.  There are a few fun lenten recipes and quotes and writings of the holy fathers sprinkled throughout the entire study.

Lenten Study Guide.

Winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 23.

  4. I would love all of these! I already “like” the Greek vegan page but the other link didn’t work for me. I would love to add these resources to my family’s lenten journey!

  5. I would love to win this! We are only in our second Lent as Orthodox Christians and are still gathering resources to use as a family. 11. I would love to win this giveaway because this is our first Lent as part of the Orthodox Church (Baptized in September), and we need all the resources we can get! Blessed Lent!

  12. Hi Orthodox Mom,
I just came across your website today, just by chance. I was searching out for some recipes for Lent and I came across yours. I am so glad I found you. It is so funny to see you are called “Orthodox Mom”. My godmother goes by orthodoxmomma for her emails. I just became Orthodox on Jan. 16, 21016. My husband is Orthodox and when we went to church after about the third time something came over me and I said, “I want to become Orthodox”. We have been married for 41 years and it took this long for me to wake up, I guess you can say that. I was Methodist before this. I love your website, it is GREAT! This all new to me in one way or another, so I am in a learning process for Orthodoxy. My husband didn’t get to go to church a whole lot since we are married, as his job took him out of town a lot. Our children were both baptized Methodist, so that is where we went to church on Sundays, plus I taught Sunday school there for 6 years. I am so glad that I converted over to Orthodox, I have missed out on a lot. So much to learn. I really would love to be the one who is picked, I could appreciate any new books or materials to learn about Orthodox. Thank you, and again your website is awesome. I am so glad I found you, can’t wait to share with my other Orthodox friends and family.
    In Christ,

  13. I would love to win this prize, I’m a catechumen set to be baptized and chrismated this Holy Saturday, along with my fiancé (my daughters were baptized 3 weeks ago). We don’t currently have a Psalter book, and I would love to have one, additionally, I’m struggling with kid-friendly fasting dinners, and the recipes from The Greek Vegan would sure come in handy!

I’ve followed you on all three platforms, subscribed, and liked both The Greek Vegan and Orthodox Christian Children on Facebook

  14. What a great giveaway! I would love to deepen my faith this Lenten season and all of these practical resources so perfectly selected would help tremendously with my spiritual journey. I am also looking to instill the Orthodox faith into my children. My first born arrived on the feast of the Nativity last year. I have an overwhelming sense of responsibility to raise her to be a pious, Godly person. I truly feel that sowing the seed now, even in her first year of life, would be the best time to begin teaching her how to fill her days with prayer, fasting, and love for the Lord through my example. Thank you for offering such a great gift and encouraging other Orthodox moms to guide their children to holiness!

P.S. I did all of thee above on all of my social medias! (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest)

  15. What a wonderful giveaway idea! I’d love to win-the Psalter and Orthodox Lenten Study would be cherished and life giving gifts that would serve me and my family for a lifetime. And the Nisteia issue would be a blessed bonus! These things are sweet ingredients to building a legacy. I follow you on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Also I followed Greek Vegan and Orthodox Christian Children.com on Facebook. Bless you for offering Sylvia!

  16. I’d love to receive these blessings as I’m an Orthodox newly single mom of a toddler, looking for God’s guidance in a dark and difficult season of life.
I was forced to flee from a toxic relationship in order to protect my little one and myself after realising it was not safe to stay; this is certainly not what I anticipated my life would be life, and I’m calling out to Christ and to the Theotokos to give me comfort, and guide me through this difficult time.
I’m not sure what He is doing, but I know “all things work together for good for those who love God,” so I hang on to His promises, and hope that He will send comfort, peace, purpose, joy and beauty during all this loss, pain, fear, and shame.
Please remember me in your prayers.

  17. I would love to win these lovely items to encourage me on my Lenten Journey. Our family converted 4 years ago, and this year I’m feeling my “new convert zeal” has lost some of it’s zest. I’m ready to dig deeper into our faith, but needing some fresh encouragement!

(So I think this makes 12x entry for me? I’ve left a comment, subscribed to this blog, follow you on Facebook. follow you on Instagram. followed you on Pinterest. shared this post on Pinterest (5), & liked The Greek Vegan on FB (2) 🙂 Thank you for offering this wonderful gift to your readers. I know the recipient will be blessed!)

  19. Hello! I enjoy following your blog and appreciate all of the wonderful ideas you share. I’m a Mom to twin boys with special needs who love to go to Church and learn about our Faith. One of my boys just started to say a few words this past year. We’ve been saying the Lord’s Prayer every night before bed and he recently started trying to say it along with us ❤️

  20. This is wonderful. I would love to win because: I really, really want your Orthodox Lenten study, the recipe book would inspire me to be more creative during fasting periods, and I would love to give the Psalter to a friend at church.
May your Lenten journey be blessed!

  21. I’ve subscribed to your blog, I’m following you on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, I have shared the giveaway on Facebook (tagged some friends!), Aandnd liked tThe Greek Vegan page on facebook. The Orthodox Christian Children page on Facebook wasn’t responsive.
    That should be 12 entries!
    Thank you!

  22. Orthodox Mom, Thank you for putting this giveaway together. Last year I found your Lenten Psalter group and gained so much from it. I would love to win, particularly your Lenten study and the newest issue from the Greek Vegan (I “like” all of you (Adventures of an Orthodox Mom; The Greek Vegan; and The Orthodox Christian Children.com) on FB and follow you on Pinterest – including Top Knot Knits). The Psalter would become a gift for my dear friend who just became a catechumen. And it would be so nice to have additional lenten recipes for my family’s Lenten Journey. I have shared your fantastic giveaway with my friends on FB. I am looking forward to your blog updates in my email, newly subscribed. (# of entries: 13)

  23. I would love to win the study. A friend used it last year and enjoyed it. I could use the disciplin of something with structure.

  24. I stumbled upon this website last year (through God’s grace) and it has been a saving grace during difficult times. Being a busy working mom of 3 young boys, this website and your blogs have not only helped to lift me out of difficult times but you have also offered very simple and specific ways to help me enrich the spiritual upbringing of my sons.

These items would be a great support during holy lent!

May God bless you and your family for all that you do to help Orthodox mom’s all over the world!!!!

    Kali Sarakosti,

  25. Always open to learning and growing. This would be a great way to learn more about Orthodox traditions when it comes to prayer and holy days. I hope to win.

    1. I also liked the pages you had mentioned and followed you on FB, Twitter, and Instagram. I also shared the link to this giveaway on both FB and Twitter using the hashtag you provided.

  26. I would love to win the psalter because i love to use stolen moments in the day to pray.

I would love the lenten cookbook because I love to eat.

I would love the lenten study guide because I love to read. :_)

  27. Its such a beautiful package. It looks just like the treat I need to help me get through this years Lenten journey. It has been a tough one already! Thank you for your encouragement!

  28. Practicing Lent seriously for the first time as a catechumen. Would love to read these to help me out.

  29. I have subscribed to your blog, was already following you on FB, Instagram, Pinterest (Teresa McClelland Dallas) and tweeted (Nightingale1985). Already liked the Greek Vegan and Orthodox Christain Children.

Would appreciate any tools/books to help me become closer to God.

  30. I would be so grateful to win any one of these prizes as I’m a fairly new mom & am focused on building a strong Orthodox foundation for our family. I was raised with our faith being a very important part of us while my husband’s family did not provide him with much of a faith-based upbringing. Needless to say, it’s been a bit of a struggle for me to help him appreciate the faith of our ancestors & begin to really live a life built upon it. So, any resources are appreciated. I actually just found your Facebook page via a friend’s shared post, and now I’ve began looking through your blog (& love it!!) & I liked both of those pages you recommended following on Facebook. I am now following you on Facebook, Pinterest & Instagram & shared this giveaway both on my Facebook page (Snežana Jurošević) and on Twitter. I’m happy to have found you! Thank you for being a resource for other Orthodox mamas! <3

  31. I’d love to win simply because I can use all the help I can get on the journey through Lent!

I already follow you on IG and the Greek Vegan on FB, now I’m also following you and Orthodox Christian Children on FB (which might just mean I have to go on there more often *gasp*!) I’m a bit late to the game but I did share on IG 🙂

  32. I’d love to win and enjoy these resources through Lent and beyond. I subscribe to your page, I follow you on Facebook and Pinterest, and I liked the two facebook pages you suggested. Thanks for offering this giveaway.

  33. Growing up orthodox I have fallen in to the “it’s just what you do”, now I’m trying to learn why do we do these things. It’s helping strengthen my faith. The psalter would be a great addition. I am now following you on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest.

  34. Hi, I heard about your site as Lent was beginning! And am just now exploring it… My husband, twins, and I were chrismated and baptized (children) just this past August 30th! I’ve been wanting something more to read than “just” the academics, if that makes sense, a devotional that matches the season, my needs as a woman, wife, mother, friend, teacher/employee… of God’s mercy and will. My husband has been ‘eating’ up as much literature as he can, but I haven’t found a good starting point. We are trying to take full advantage of the Lenten struggles, so I think that this would be the perfect time to get back into devotionals! Thank you for using your talents to help others “grow”! PS I did buy the pdf before I came upon this post. The Psalter & mag would be great additions to our resources!
