In response to Scott if he should read it: Yes, some parish priests say to go ahead and enjoy Thanksgiving. One of the priests in town says this, but I don't know about the others.

First off, great blog! You have a ton of great ideas and a lovely family. One question. Why doesn't the Orthodox Church grant an indult for American Orthodox? Thanksgiving is significant culturally for Americans. It seems a shame to not be able to celebrate the day with your fellow Americans. I know as a Catholic, when Friday abstinence was obligatory, an indult was granted for Thanksgiving if it fell on a Friday. Would such an option be available for Orthodox Christians? Just curious. Thanks.
