We were cruising along through the Nativity Fast, saying our prayers, planning our godparent gifts, breaking the news that there would fewer presents this year than usual since the real focus is Jesus...when I got a call on Sunday evening from a friend with 8 children who found herself and her family homeless. Could we take them in for a while? So all of a sudden Christmas became about so much more - about my daughter sacrificing her room so the mom and dad could sleep in the same bed for the first time in a long time, about my son sleeping in his brother's bed, about everyone sharing toys and learning about hospitality, charity, loneliness, bringing joy. We already have 12 children and have a single mom and her 3 year old live us so for this Nativity we are now a household of 26. That's what Christmas is about for us this year - saying yes when all the other inns are full....

I think the season reminds us all of loving and remembering those we care about.Also those less fortunate than us. I always think its sad that only once a year are we called upon to care for others. Peace on Earth Goodwill toward Men.

My nameday:) Ok, that was a joke. To remember that "Christ our savior was born on Christmas day... to save us all from Satan's power when we have gone astray" to quote "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".
