Introducing Bubby
I'm feeling a little guilty, 2nd child guilt ya know? I've been cooking and baking and getting everything ready for Lucky's 1st Birthday party and I realized that every year for Ace's birthday I make him something fun. The past couple of years he's told me what he wanted. Last year it was a pencil bigger than him, so I knitted him this pencil scarf..
.
For his 1st birthday I made him this little memory box with broken crayons glued to the top to match the Crayola theme, his 2nd I made him a Paddington Bear blanket, etc. So now I'm feeling totally guilty, perhaps because everything has been so last minute for his birthday and Ace's plans were like blueprints finished 6 months in advance. I've just totally been swamped these last few months, between writing assignments, our vacation and just everything else. So yesterday I started thinking of things I can make him (quickly) since the party is this weekend. That's when I remembered Bubby! At around 1 1/2 Ace took a liking to his Curious George doll a.k.a. "Gaki" short for Georgaki in Greek. We began reading the Curious George books in Greek long before the re-creation of the lovable little trouble making monkey. So to this day Gaki is Ace's best bud and yes he still calls him Gaki. You have no idea how many people ask why he calls his monkey yuckey. :)
So God-willing after I finish cooking this morning I can start creating Lucky's new friend. I have to have everything ready to transport (the party will be at a beach near our family which is a few hours away) by Friday night when we leave so I've been cooking my lil' heart out all morning.
I'll post pics of the party soon too!
