Holy Week Activities

I can't believe it's Holy Week already! Here's a few posts from the archives that I'll be using this week and you might find helpful as well.Along with attending the beautiful Nymphios services this week, the following will be happening in our home:Our tsourekia are already made and waiting...The kids have already begun coloring their Holy Week coloring sheets and reading through our Journey through Holy Week binder. I also love this Holy Week activity from Evlogia.I really want to make this Pascha craft with the boys this year too.On Holy Thursday we will dye our eggs and I will be using these 10 Tips for Perfect Red Eggs again.. .I will also be attempting to make Kulich again using this recipe. I was doing pretty well last year until this happened...needless to say, I WILL remember to cut the lip off of my cans this year. :)If all goes well with the kulich, I really want to try making Cheese Paska this year too.On Holy Friday we will be decorating the epitaphios (click here for pics from previous years). On Holy Saturday we will be making our Resurrection cookies. The boys look forward to these every year and I love going through the story of Christ's crucifixion and Resurrection like this with them.  I'll also be cooking up lots of stuff for our Pascha picnic that we have here at our house each year.  This year, I found inspiration via Creative Ad Awards and will be making this cute (and super easy) feta and olive Greek flag.  If you have a minute, check out all the creative ways they showcased flags from various countries for the Sydney International Food Festival.  I also bookmarked the United States one (hot dogs and mustard) for the 4th of July! And of course on Sunday we will be celebrating the glorious Resurrection of our Lord Jesus! We usually do this Orthodox Egg Hunt (click on resources-Lent/Pascha) with the kids. Here is another great list of things to do with your children during Holy Week from Orthodox Education.Kali Anastasi to all of you!
